Northern Central Hospital

The NCH, funded through private funds and bank loans, is located in Thirunalvely near the University of Jaffna Campus. It consists of 60 beds for general occupation and 10 intensive care / high dependency beds. The proposed delivery of cardiac services will rely on the building infrastructure and regular staff provided by the NCH. It includes the following: a dedicated operating theatre, an intensive care facility with a 4- bed intensive and high dependency area, and a 10- bed ward for pre- and post- operative patients. It will also provide basic surgical facilities. The forerunner of this facility is the Central Nursing Home.

The Central Nursing Home was opened in 1976 and continues to provide health care. This experience is invaluable in the management of the new institution. With the return of normalcy since the end of the conflict and the return of significant numbers of the population there is an increasing demand for world-class health care. The NCH is a response to this need and the aspirations of the local population. Mr S.P. Samy is the Chairman and CEO of the Group and Dr. S Kesheveraj is the Director of the Northern Central hospital.
